Post Office Counters Headquarters

EDM number 1063 in 1992-93, proposed by Elfyn Llwyd on 14/12/1992.

That this House notes reports by the Union of Communication Workers which suggest that the Counters Headquarters for the Post Office in Wales are to be transferred to Manchester and Bristol; believes that any such move would take away key administrative functions and employment from Wales with jobs relating to the administration of the counters service in Wales being located in England; further believes that any such move to transfer the Counters Headquarters from Wales would be rightly viewed as a snub to Wales by the Post Office; condemns the Secretary of State for Wales for his refusal to intervene to keep jobs and key administrative functions in Wales; and calls on the Post Office to treat Wales as a nation by maintaining the counters headquarters in Bangor and Bridgend.

This motion has been signed by a total of 3 MPs.
