Lifecare Trust, Croydon

That this House notes the dismissal of Mr Keiron Stanley, the Hospital Manager at St. Lawrence's Hospital, part of the Lifecare Trust, Croydon, on a charge of sexual harassment; notes with great concern that his senior appointment was made despite his being suspended on two occasions, first from Warlington Park Hospital and, second, from a senior post with North Staffordshire Health Authority; notes that his application to North Staffordshire was supported by a reference from the present Chief Executive of the Lifecare Trust, Mr Ian Semple, who failed to mention that his long-standing friend had been suspended in Croydon; notes too that later Mr Semple, following the second suspension, then appointed him to a senior position with the Croydon Lifecare Trust, this despite the North Staffordshire Health Authority bringing matters to the attention of the Croydon Health Authority at the conclusion of their investigation; and therefore calls upon the Secretary of State for Health to mount an urgent investigation into senior management practices at the Lifecare Trust, specifically its senior staff appointment system, given the evidence of clear nepotism, the failure of the Trust's Board to safeguard staff and patients' interests, an alleged climate of fear, and the case of sexual harassment.
