British Nuclear Fuels Ltd., Information Policy
EDM number 1105 in 1992-93, proposed by Paul Flynn on 16/12/1992.
That this House unreservedly condemns British Nuclear Fuels for issuing a briefing note to the media on 30th November seeking to put the financial case for the new Sellafield II (Thorp) reprocessing plant, which includes self-service reference to losses that could be incurred of up to ú900 million, as calculated by consultants Touche Ross, but has refused honourable Members access to the original contractual documentation that would allow independent verification of the BNFL case; believes this to be yet another example of BNFL's closed door information policy; and urges that Thorp not be allowed to open unless Parliament is provided with the full facts on Thorp finances by BNFL.
This motion has been signed by a total of 28 MPs.
