leave out from 'finance' to end and add'congratulates the Government on its determination to continue to provide increasing resources for legal aid in forthcoming years; appreciates the need for that expenditure to be kept within the figures announced in the Autumn Statement; recognises that cutting eligibility is not the only way of ensuring that expenditure is kept within those limits; and hopes that the Government will consider carefully alternative proposals put to it which would achieve the same end by less damaging means, such as by reducing the number of lawyers needed for each case.'.
