Advertising Of Services For The Unemployed In Job Centres
EDM number 1297 in 1992-93, proposed by Nigel Jones on 02/02/1993.
That this House believes that unemployed people should have the greatest possible range of services available to them in jobcentres in order to help them back to work; notes that 'CVs by Post' of Cheltenham offered a CV service at discount rates to unemployed people which was advertised at a number of jobcentres; further notes that these adverts were later removed as a result of a ruling by the Employment Agency; further believes that managers of jobcentres should have the discretion to advertise the services they see fit, to provide the best possible service to the unemployed, without interference from Whitehall; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to review the regulations governing the display of advertisements at jobcentres.
