Student Loans Company Ltd And The Welsh Language

EDM number 131 in 1992-93, proposed by Elfyn Llwyd on 21/05/1992.

That this House notes the refusal of the Student Loans Company Ltd. to supply Welsh language versions of its mass distributed leaflets and application forms; further notes that the Student Loans Company Ltd. is the only company offering non-commercial loans to thousands of Welsh-speaking students; believes that Welsh-speaking students have a basic right to receive information and application forms from the Student Loans Company in the Welsh language; further notes that the attitude of the Student Loans Company underpins the need for legislation which would ensure that Welsh is granted equal status to the English language in Wales; and calls on the Student Loans Company to change its policy on this matter so that Welsh language material is ready for distribution at the earliest possible date.

This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
