Army Bomb Disposal Unit
EDM number 1334 in 1992-93, proposed by A Cecil Walker on 04/02/1993.
That this House salutes the courage of the members of the Army Bomb Disposal Unit in their selfless service to the whole community in Northern Ireland and elsewhere; notes that since the terrorist campaign started 20 members of this unit have died and 22 have been injured, that over 40,000 emergency calls have been answered and 4,700 bombs neutralised; and utterly deplores the action by the Social Democratic and Labour Party members of Belfast City Council in blocking a proposal, supported by the Alliance and Unionist members, to confer the freedom of the City on the unit, thus demonstrating that their Republican sympathies outweigh their desire to appear moderate.
This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
