Funding Of The Welsh Office Mental Illness Strategy

That this House congratulates the counties of Wales for the effort which they have put into formulating joint plans for community based mental health services in Wales in line with the joint planning process established under the Welsh Office Mental Illness Strategy; notes however, that for these plans to operate effectively, they require specific funding of key services and multi-agency initiatives taking into account the role of statutory agencies and the voluntary sector; and calls on the Welsh Office to safeguard funds for implementing the Mental Illness Strategy during 1993-94 and subsequent years.
