Cyprus (No.4)

EDM number 1505 in 1992-93, proposed by Edward O'Hara on 02/03/1993.

That this House welcomes the assurance given to both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots by President Clerides of Cyprus in his inaugural address, that he will work honestly and sincerely to achieve through peaceful procedures, a just, viable and workable solution to the Cyprus problem, based on the high level agreements, the UN Charter and the European Convention on Human Rights; further welcomes the statement by the EC Commissioner for External Relations, Mr Van den Broek, that the Community is willing to contribute to a solution of the Cyprus problem; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to give a similar affirmation of their commitment to the achievement of a just, viable and lasting solution to the Cyprus problem under the newly-elected President of the Republic.
