OBJECTIONS TO PRIVATE MEMBERS' BILLS
EDM number 1585 in 1992-93, proposed by Chris Mullin on 11/03/1993.
That this House notes with concern that honourable Members who object to Private Members' Bills are not identified in the Official Report and not obliged to declare an interest; recalls that, as long ago as Session 1963-64, the Procedure Committee recommended that honourable Members objecting should rise in their place to enable them to be identified; notes that this recommendation has been ignored; and calls upon the Procedure Committee to recommend that objectors be identified in the Official Report and that any relevant interest be declared.
This motion has been signed by a total of 57 MPs.
