Denial Of Human Rights In Kosova

EDM number 170 in 1992-93, proposed by Russell Johnston on 03/06/1992.

That this House welcomes the elections, held unofficially but with the full and peaceful co-operation of the 90 per cent. Albanian population, of the formerly autonomous province of Kosova; deplores the denial of human rights to Albanians in Kosova and the repressive actions by the Serbian forces there, the sacking of Albanians from the University in Pristina, the withdrawal of secondary education in the Albanian language, the progressive exclusion of Albanians from all important administrative and managerial positions and their replacement by Serbs paid much higher rates; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to work through the European Community, the CSCE and the United Nations, to secure a plebiscite for Kosova, similar to that held in the Saar in 1924, so that the people of Kosova may freely decide their own future.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
