Proposed Increase In Tariff On Worsted And Woollen Cloth Imports To South Korea

That this House is alarmed at proposals by the Korean Government to increase tariffs on imports of worsted and woollen cloth by 38 per cent; notes that the trade deficit with South Korea in this category is already over one hundred million pounds; recognises that such a tariff increase will result in the loss of jobs in the Yorkshire textile industry; and uges the Government to make strong representations against the proposal and to make provision for retaliatory tariffs if such representations are not accepted.
