Independent Newspaper And The Italian Referendum

That this House notes that alone amongst the quality press The Independent misreported the fact that the Italians in a recent referendum voted to replace one proportional system for electing the Senate with another proportional system; regrets that a quality newspaper was so taken in by its own false news reporting that the error was repeated in the editorial and suggests the Editor asks The Independent's correspondents in Germany and New Zealand to confirm that the Italians have supported a mixed member proportional system operating in the former and chosen by the latter in the referendum last year.
