Protection Of Ancient Woodlands
EDM number 188 in 1992-93, proposed by Win Griffiths on 04/06/1992.
That this House expresses its concern that 45 per cent. of ancient woodland in England and Wales has been lost since 1930; urges the Government to prevent any further destruction of this woodland by human activity, especially when such woodland is already a site of special scientific interest - like Carmel Woods in the Gwenlais Valley, Dyfed; and further urges the Government to double its broadleaf planting programme in countries which have lost more than one third of their ancient woodland since 1930.
This motion has been signed by a total of 63 MPs.
