British Rail And Port Vale And Stockport County Football Clubs

EDM number 1890 in 1992-93, proposed by Joan Walley on 28/04/1993.

That this House congratulates Port Vale F.C. and Stockport County on reaching the Autoglass Cup Final at Wembley on 22nd May; applauds the fact that approximately 50,000 supporters and their families, who live along the West Coast Main Line, will wish to support their teams at Wembley Stadium and enjoy a family outing on that day; would expect British Rail to welcome the commercial benefits arising from at least two special trains from each club; deeply regrets British Rail's refusal so far to provide such facilities; calls upon Sir Bob Reid, Chairman of British Rail, to ensure that Wembley Central Station is made available or to provide a proper alternative for through travel; and deplores British Rail's refusal to meet the needs of the travelling public.

This motion has been signed by a total of 13 MPs.
