That this House is appalled at the state of the Portland Gate flats in Hove, Sussex; considers that urgent action should be taken by the Secretary of State for the Environment to ensure that adequate powers are given to local authorities to take immediate action against landlords who fail to ensure that their properties are kept in a proper state of repair; in the interim, calls on the agents of the landlords of Portland Gate flats, Messrs Robert Gate of Second Avenue, Hove, to take immediate action to alleviate the hardship, anxiety and distress of the residents of these flats; and commends the Hove Labour Party on its excellent work in highlighting this issue.
