H M Government And The Pay Review Bodies

EDM number 2147 in 1992-93, proposed by Andrew Welsh on 11/06/1993.

That this House condemns Her Majesty's Government's imposition of a 1.5 per cent. ceiling on salary increases for public sector workers, especially those working in the underfunded National Health Service; is appalled by the actions of the Government in interfering with the work of the pay review bodies; expresses concern that the ground lost by public sector workers in the current year's salary stakes may not be made up in next year's negotiations; and demands that the Government allow the pay review bodies to carry out their work of assessing the pay claims of public sector workers in the independent manner intended when they were established.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
