Bicentenary Of The Death Of Robert Burns

That this House notes that 1996 will be the bicentenary of the death of Robert Burns; salutes the contribution he made to the language and literature of Scotland and to world culture; joins with Burns clubs and associations worldwide in seeking to further celebrate the life and work of Robert Burns; believes that it would be a fitting tribute to Scotland's national bard if a commemorative postal stamp were to be issued to mark the occasion of the bicentenary of his death; and calls on the postal authorities to suitably mark this special event.
