Objective 1 Status For The Highlands And Islands (No.2)

EDM number 2198 in 1992-93, proposed by Margaret Ewing on 22/06/1993.

That this House congratulates the European Parliament on its overwhelming support for the proposition that Objective 1 status for the Highlands and Islands should include West Moray, Argyll and Bute, Cumbrae and Arran; recognises that this endorses the view of the Regional and Agricultural Committees that this should be the area covered by objective 1; and urges the United Kingdom government to support these votes in light of the fragile rural economies of these specific parts of the Highlands and Islands enterprise areas.
