PENSIONERS' TAKE UP OF INCOME SUPPORT

That this House congratulates Lancashire County Councils Welfare Rights Service on its successful take-up campaign for income support entitlement of pensioners, which has led to almost 4,000 elderly Lancastrians securing improvement in their incomes; and notes that had the Secretary of State for Social Security allowed the Benefits Agency to initiate a nation-wide take-up campaign, many thousands more United Kingdom pensioners would have benefited similarly.
