TAXPAYER'S CHARTER
EDM number 2290 in 1992-93, proposed by Nigel Jones on 08/07/1993.
That this House notes Clause 12 of the Taxpayer's Charter promises that the cost to taxpayers of complying with their legal duty should be kept to a minimum; further notes that since April 1988 the Inland Revenue has ceased to supply reply-paid envelopes with annual tax returns, saving a mere ú2 million; believes that people should not have to pay to comply with a legal requirement; and calls on Her Majesty's Government to reverse its decision and send reply-paid envelopes to taxpayers with their tax returns and produce a meaningful charter for taxpayers that is more than just words.
