Pankhurst Centre, Manchester
EDM number 2333 in 1992-93, proposed by Liz Lynne on 16/07/1993.
That this House commends the work of the Pankhurst Centre, sited in Emmeline Pankhurst's house in Manchester where the Women's Social and Political Union was founded; welcomes the Centre's aim of acting both as a permanent and living tribute to all women who have fought in the struggle to be recognised as full citizens and as a facility for women in Manchester and beyond; but notes that the withdrawal by Manchester City Council of a top-up grant of ú10,000 has led to a reduction in services and in the opportunities for self-generated income; and calls on Manchester City Council to think again and to work with the Centre to find the best means possible of restoring the lost income.
This motion has been signed by a total of 14 MPs.
