British Coal And Asset Stripping

EDM number 2382 in 1992-93, proposed by John Cummings on 22/07/1993.

That this House notes with alarm the continued action of British Coal in asset stripping Easington Colliery of the methane extraction plant and a haulage system which are essential in maintaining the integrity of the mine at a time when Budge Mining Company is actively pursuing an application to licence the mine; further notes that British Coal is asset stripping other coal mines, the effect of which is detrimental to those mines being licensed to the private sector; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to instruct British Coal to cease such pirating of the industry.

This motion has been signed by a total of 29 MPs.
