That this House, noting the unanimous decision of Conservative-controlled Berwickshire District Council to reject the Scottish Office plans to remove Berwickshire from the Borders Region and amalgamate it in a new local authority with part of East Lothian, calls on the Secretary of State for Scotland to review his proposals before publishing a Bill and to respect the geographic, historic, cultural and administrative integrity of the Borders.
