Junk Mail And Electoral Registers

EDM number 2421 in 1992-93, proposed by Harry Barnes on 26/07/1993.

That this House is gravely concerned that the commercial sale of electoral registers acts as a disincentive to people who may wish to register for the vote but who do not wish to be inundated with junk mail; believes that the commercial sale of registers should be ended; and further believes that, as an interim measure, electoral registration forms, and other local and national publicity for electoral registration, should include a prominent reference to availability of membership of the Mailing Preference Service for those who do not want to receive direct mail from commercial companies.

This motion has been signed by a total of 21 MPs.
