Crime In Cornwall And Devon
EDM number 2454 in 1992-93, proposed by Paul Tyler on 19/10/1993.
That this House urges the Home Secretary to give an explicit promise to fund fully the 4 per cent. increase in the budget of the Devon and Cornwall Police Authority for 1994-1995 to prevent reductions in numbers of officers on the beat, to give urgent and sympathetic consideration to the Chief Constable's request to him for 87 additional officers, to postpone all the damaging changes proposed in his organisation White Paper and the Sheehy Report and to give priority instead to full support for the Authority's battle against rising crime.
This motion has been signed by a total of 8 MPs.
