Union Flag And The Honourable Members For Hamilton And Tayside

That this House regrets that the suggestion of more Union Jack waving by the Secretary of State for Education has been treated seriously by some honourable Members; recalls with concern that support for similar ideas was declared by the honourable Member for Hamilton in an article in The Sunday Times on 27th November 1988 entitled "Keep the Flag Flying Here'; and trusts that, in his new position as Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland, the honourable Member for Hamilton will now dissociate himself from the attempts of the honourable Member for Tayside North to hoist the Union Jack over Scottish classrooms.
