Cancellation Of New Road Proposals

EDM number 2543 in 1992-93, proposed by Terry Lewis on 28/10/1993.

That this House applauds the decision of Her Majesty's Government to abandon the hugely unpopular proposed M1 to M6 link road in West Yorkshire; welcomes also the recent decision to withdraw the M6 to M62, Stage 2, link of the ill-conceived Greater Manchester Western and Northern Relief Road; notes that the Secretary of State for Transport claims to have been persuaded against these schemes by adverse public reaction; and now, therefore, calls upon him to treat the M62 relief road proposal in similar fashion by cancelling it forthwith.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
