Funding Of The Commonwealth Institute (No. 2)

That this House expresses its shock and dismay at the recent decision of the Government to withdraw funding from the Commonwealth Institute; recognises the very important work of the Commonwealth Institute in promoting understanding of the Commonwealth, its peoples and issues; believes that in today's turbulent world, with the rise of virulent xenophobic attitudes, any institute which promotes understanding between peoples of different cultures must be supported; and therefore calls on the Government to reverse this very shortsighted decision.
