Peace Picket By New Consensus

EDM number 27 in 1992-93, proposed by Harry Barnes on 07/05/1992.

That this House welcomes the peace picket organised by the cross-party New Consensus peace group at the Bobby Sands commemoration meeting addressed by a Sinn Fein councillor in London on Sunday 10th May; notes that the themes of the peace picket 'Stop the killing' and 'Paramilitaries - call it off' are symbols of the revulsion of the vast majority of people in these islands towards those who use or support the use of force to further their ends; and commends New Consensus for campaigning for an unequivocal rejection of all paramilitarism and all illegitimate use of state forces, for its support for devolved government backed by a Bill of Rights in Northern Ireland and for its calls for integrated education and the revision of Articles 2 and 3 of the Irish Constitution.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
