Search And Rescue Flight-Raf Leuchars (No 2)

EDM number 372 in 1992-93, proposed by Menzies Campbell on 29/06/1992.

That this House congratulates the officers and men of 22 Squadron based at RAF Leuchars on the successful rescue of David Pascall on Sunday 28th June from Ben Lui; notes that had search and rescue operations been discontinued at RAF Leuchars, as is under consideration by the Ministry of Defence, Mr Pascall's life might have been threatened due to increased flying time required to effect a rescue from stations other than Leuchars; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to confirm the retention of search and rescue facilities at RAF Leuchars as soon as possible.
