That this House would prefer the building societies' tax saga to be resolved in the United Kingdom, believing that otherwise the European Court of Human Rights will eventually give judgement in favour of the societies, thus opening United Kingdom taxation to European review on a regular basis and leaving matters in doubt, possibly for years.
