British Pregnancy Advisory Service Abortion Clinic Public Inquiry

EDM number 763 in 1992-93, proposed by David Alton on 06/11/1992.

That this House calls for a public inquiry into the operation of the Merseyside Nursing Home Abortion Clinic operated by the British Pregnancy Advisory Service at 32 Parkfield Road, Liverpool, following the revelation by the Sunday People newspaper of malpractice leading to botched abortions causing horrific suffering to both mothers and children; notes that great distress was recently caused to a woman patient giving birth to a dead baby of 10 weeks' gestation at home following an abortion and that other cases have come to light; and believes that these incidents underline the case for separating abortion clinics from counselling services.
