AUJESKY'S DISEASE LEVY

EDM number 882 in 1992-93, proposed by Paul Tyler on 18/11/1992.

That this House condemns the appropriation of the Aujesky's disease levy by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to help to subsidise its own monitoring; notes that this was a successful scheme funded by producers which has eradicated the disease from Britain; further notes that the levy raised over ú27 million; believes that a Government which professes to accept the place of open government should have carried out consultation with the pig industry; and demands that the money raised should be used, as the industry planned, for the good of the industry.

This motion has been signed by a total of 18 MPs.
