Pit Closures (No.2)

EDM number 920 in 1992-93, proposed by Harold Walker on 23/11/1992.

That this House, being deeply concerned for the future employment and welfare of the 7,000 families and the associated communities who will be affected by the closure of the 10 pits subject to the 90-day statutory consultation period, declines to accept as a sufficient basis for closure a simple assertion of non-profitability; and calls upon the President of the Board of Trade to make public all the relevant information supplied to him by British Coal.
