Rosyth & The Scottish Economy

EDM number 928 in 1992-93, proposed by Rachel Squire on 24/11/1992.

That this House notes that 4,100 men and women are employed at Rosyth Dockyard; notes also the threat to Rosyth Naval Base and accompanying companies and the risk to a total of 18,000 jobs in Scotland and that the Rosyth complex is responsible for generating nearly ú400 million of income within the Scottish economy every year; reminds the Government of its promise since 1985 that Rosyth would undertake submarine refitting work; and calls on the Government to approve the two-dockyard option which keeps open Rosyth and Devonport and which upholds the promise of submarine refitting work for Rosyth.
