Bias Of Labour/snp Administration On Grampian
EDM number 1153 in 1993-94, proposed by Malcolm Bruce on 03/05/1994.
That this House condemns the Labour/SNP administration on Grampian Regional Council for its decision not to provide promised nursery places at Insch, representing a departure from the established practice of determining priorities objectively in favour of diverting resources into lower priority areas in SNP and Labour marginal council seats; believes that this demonstrates that Labour cannot be trusted to make decisions free from bias and that the SNP's claim to be the party of Scotland rings hollow when they cannot even deliver services fairly in Grampian Region; and contrasts the behaviour of these two parties with that of the Liberal Democrats who set the expansion of nursery education in train in 1986 after the freeze imposed by the former Conservative administration and ensured that from then until this most recent decision nursery classes have been opened throughout Grampian Region at the rate of six a year on the basis of a fair and objective set of priorities.
