Success Of The United Kingdom Machine Tool Industry;amdt. Line 9:

EDM number 1266A1 in 1993-94, proposed by Nicholas Winterton on 20/05/1994.

at end add 'reiterates the calls by the Machine Tool Technologies Association the Engineering Employers Federation and the Manufacturing and Construction Industries Alliance that the Chancellor of the Exchequer should in his forthcoming Budget introduce measures to allow 100 per cent. capital allowances in the first year to encourage British industry to continue to invest in the new equipment and facilities which are essential if it is to remain competitive in world markets; and further observes that this latest evidence supports the observations by the Manufacturing and Construction Industries Alliance that fastest economic growth in coming years will not be in the European Community but in the Pacific Rim, South East Asia and North America and that it is upon those areas, and upon the former countries of the Soviet Bloc that Government and industry should be focussing their attention.'.

This is a ammendment to 1266.
