HYDRO-ELECTRIC'S RATE OF DISCONNECTIONS

EDM number 1270 in 1993-94, proposed by Alex Salmond on 23/05/1994.

That this House condemns Hydro-Electric for having the highest disconnection rate in the United Kingdom; notes that Hydro-Electric cut off 76 households per 100,000 in 1993 (four times the national average) compared with two households per 100,000 for ManWeb in Manchester; recalls that Hydro-Electric was set up over 50 years ago to ensure that customers and the community in the North of Scotland would be the company's top priority; calls on the electricity industry regulator, OFFER, to mount an immediate investigation; and challenges Hydro-Electric to make a public statement explaining this heartless and disgraceful state of affairs.

This motion has been signed by a total of 9 MPs.
