Bull Bars On Motor Vehicles
EDM number 1428 in 1993-94, proposed by Paul Flynn on 04/07/1994.
That this House believes the use of bull bars on the front of road vehicles should be banned; is convinced that they are of little, if any, practical value but greatly increase the severity of injuries in pedestrian accidents by concentrat ing the force of the collision to smaller area of the body, frequently at height of chld's head; and is alarmed at the report that in all accidents bull bars inflict more severe injuries tht cars with uncluttered flexible bodies and that, even in collisions at speeds as low as 10 m.p.h., bull bars can kill children.
