Cyprus: Accession To Full Membership To The Eu

That this House notes with concern the remarks of the Prime Minister, Official Report, 27 June, column 567, about the prospects for the admission of Cyprus to full membership of the European Union; is particularly concerned that these remarks seem to go considerably beyond the wording of the official communique from the Corfu Summit (Section B: Applicant Countries); and calls upon the Prime Minister by way of clarification to confirm that Her Majesty's Government do not see the prior solution of the Cyprus problem as a necessary pre-condition for the accession of Cyprus to full membership of the European Union. (Relevant registered interest declared)
