Availability Of Pharmaceutical Products Within The N.h.s.
That this House welcomes the tremendous improvements in patient care brought about by innovative developments in the range, quality and effectiveness of pharmaceutical products available to patients; acknowledges the great contribution to the British economy of the pharmaceutical industry; commends United Kingdom pharmaceutical companies on their longstanding tradition of research and development at facilities of international standing in this country; believes that any threat to the stability and viability of this important industry would be a blow to patients, to the economy, and to the United Kingdom's international reputation for excellence; would oppose the introduction of any system which would further restrict the clinical and prescribing freedom of hospital doctors and general practitioners; and in particular rejects the suggestion that only those products included in a limited list of mandatory national formulary would remain reimbursable within the National Health Service.
