That this House expresses its total disgust at the methods employed to produce pate de foie gras; deplores the fact that geese and ducks are force fed three to four times a day for a period of three to four weeks and the cruelty is so intense the practice is banned in this country although the import of foie gras is not; notes the efforts of stores such as Harrods to promote the sale of this vile and unhealthy foodstuff at Christmas; congratulates People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and Compassion in World Farming in campaigning to end the sale of foie gras; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to ban the importation of this loathsome product.
