NEWS MEDIA AND MEMBERS' INTEREST

That this House notes that a number of honourable and Right honourable Members including opposition party front-bench spokesmen write regular columns for newspapers and magazines; further notes that in the columns material obtained from parliamentary questions which the members have asked has been included, also that the financial reward per column can be greater than the weekly salary of the majority of full-time journalists; and calls upon the Committee of Privileges to investigate and report to the House on this particular aspect of financial reward to Members for questions asked.
