Rover Group
EDM number 1649 in 1993-94, proposed by Richard Burden on 25/10/1994.
That this House congratulates Rover Group on the creation of 1,450 new jobs which will be of major benefit to the Midlands and other areas which contain Rover plants; believes that this shows that the way to industrial success is through high investment, new technology, quality training, a dedicated workforce and a management that appreciates the value of co-operation with the trades unions; and also believes that Rover's success shows how wrong is the Government approach of encouraging low wages, high unemployment and union-bashing. (Relevant registered interest declared)
