Redline Autobodies
EDM number 190 in 1993-94, proposed by Greg Pope on 07/12/1993.
That this House notes with concern the case of Mark Davies, a resident of the Hyndburn constituency, who is employed by Redline Autobodies of Haslingden for 39 hours a week, for which he takes home only ú69.38 in pay; congratulates Hyndburn Trades Council for exposing this scandal by awarding Redline Autobodies the title 'scrooge employer of the month' as part of their campaign against poverty wages in East Lancashire; and further notes with anger the attempts by Redline Autobodies and their solicitors Rowe and Cohen to intimidate the honourable Member for Hyndburn, Hyndburn Trades Council, the Hyndburn Citizen newspaper for their part in exposing this disgrace; and believes that honourable Members, trade unionists and newspapers will not be gagged by unscrupulous employers in this way and will continue to expose this kind of injustice.
