County Of Meirionnydd

EDM number 194 in 1993-94, proposed by Elfyn Llwyd on 07/12/1993.

That this House calls upon the Government to legislate for a unitary authority based on the old county of Meirionnydd; notes that this would give effect to the aspirations of over 13,000 residents in the area who have petitioned Parliament, and would allow the continuance of the administrative unit of Meirionnydd which has served its residents well since the 13th century; and further notes that the Campaign for Meirionnydd has rebutted each and every notion produced by the Government in support of its damaging proposals.
