Reform Of The House Of Commons

EDM number 4 in 1993-94, proposed by Graham Allen on 18/11/1993.

That this House, noting the growing indifference of the general public to the parliamentary process, the low esteem in which parliamentarians are held, and the need to make democracy more topical and relevant, calls upon the Procedure Committee to ascertain the views of all honourable Members via a questionnaire on what, if any, reforms of the Commons they would like to see, including the introduction of electronic voting, a named seat in the chamber for each honourable Member and consideration of a semi-circular seating arrangement more conducive to genuine debate.

This motion has been signed by a total of 22 MPs.
