Conduct Of The Hon. Member For Montgomery

That this House notes the defence of the housing allocation policy of the Development Board for Rural Wales by the honourable Member for Montgomery that is on the public record; further notes that the development board's double standards in housing allocation have been savagely criticised as gross maladministration by the Local Government Ombudsman for Wales and as unlawful and discriminatory by the Public Accounts Committee on 24th January, which highlighted the actions of the board's housing officer, Mr Geoff Brench, in allocating board properties both to himself and his separated wife, herself both a county councillor and the honourable Member's constituency secretary; also notes that the board's misdemeanours in housing allocation policy were externally examined by a former Liberal Democrat honourable Member, who recommended no disciplinary action; and therefore calls on the Leader of the Liberal Democrat Party to disassociate his party from these abuses of public money in allocating the public housing stock a manner likely to bring public housing administration into disrepute.
