PRICE OF CHILDREN'S FOOTWEAR;Amdt. line 1:

EDM number 483A1 in 1993-94, proposed by David Nicholson on 01/03/1994.

leave out from 'House' to end and add 'recognises the efforts of manufacturers of children's footwear to promote the importance of having good fitting shoes as this prevents deformities in children at a later age as proved in the Munro Report (1972); notes that producing five different widths of children's shoes in sizes, half sizes and a range of colours inevitably creates increased manufacturing costs and bigger overheads for retail outlets, but that the healthy development of children's feet should remain the top priority for the footwear industry; notes that jobs in the children's sector of the UK footwear industry would be threatened by the dumping of less specialised and cheaper foreign imports on the United Kingdom market; and calls upon the Government to maintain their stance on zero-rating for children's footwear.'.

This is a ammendment to 483.
